Matthew Dowd, a former aide to and Campaign strategist for President George W. Bush, who recently
split with Bush on a number of issues, published on the ABC News Website an
opinion that is similar to mine, that Barack Obama will will the 2008 Democratic Nomination for President.
AS I stated
before I think the combination of Hillary's money woes plus the power of
elected delegates at the Convention will raise the spectre the Democratic Party nominating someone (Hillary) without "counting all the votes" (their battle cry during their blatantly illegal attempt to steal the Florida general election in Y2K). As Dowd puts it:
But here is the deal: how does a party who has protested and screamed
and yelled about counting all the votes, that the popular vote matters
most, that an election was stolen by the Supreme Court in 2000, go
against the votes and participation by voters in the Primary process???
The
answer is: I think it's impossible for the Democratic party
establishment to go against voters in the Democratic primaries and
caucuses.
A good analysis of this ironic situation the Democrats have themselves in is offered by Ed Morrissey at
Captain's Quarters. My good friend and advisor, the Ragologist, feels that the Clintons are so ruthless and tone deaf that they will ignore this, attempt to go to court to either free the
Michigan and Florida delegates or stage
new elections (again shades of 2000, except the proverbial shoe is on the Left foot). I think they are
out of money and cannot afford a what could be a costly court fight.
The
Ramussen Markets and
Dick Morris are also predicting that an Obama victory is a
possibility, probability.
So we may get what we wanted - no Hillary. IS this what we really wanted? 49% of the country is already ready to vote against Hillary, Obama is an unknown who hasn't really run against a Republican and John McCain is considered by the majority of the Population as the closest to the
center.
So, as the Ragologist points out, that there is a long time between now and August (in
Denver)and that the key Ohio and Texas primaries are still coming up. He also councils: Don't forget New Hampshire.
Finally, Obama is such a fool that he has great potential for many
gaffes and stupid
policy statements.
